Welcome to Kyber Network’s 5 Year Anniversary!
Over the past 5 years, Kyber Network has been driven by innovation and dedication to become one of the top DEXs in the DeFi space. Our flagship product, KyberSwap, has evolved to become one of the best places to swap & earn in DeFi, aggregating liquidity from +70 DEXs across 11 chains and counting!
We are proud to celebrate 5 years of DeFi innovation and showcasing our commitment to user safety and security with zero exploits or breaches to our codebase.
Since our launch in 2017 with none other than Prince of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin as our advisor, Kyber has grown from one the DeFi’s earliest DEXs to one of the most renowned blockchain protocols, spearheading many DeFi “Firsts” along the way, including:
- First to use DEX/liquidity pool aggregation
- First to introduce the IEO/IDO platform concept
- First to develop capital efficiency for any token pair (not just stablecoins)
- First major DeFi project that rewarded voters with tokens for DAO governance
As pioneers in the DeFi space, Kyber Network was also privileged to be in a position to guide and advise others. We were one of the launch partners to bring WBTC to Ethereum, and helped advise and launch the DeFi Alliance and Asia DeFi Network. Even now we continue to provide guidance and support to budding DeFi projects through our investment arm Kyber Ventures.
Of course, being pioneers in uncharted territory had its challenges. Restrictions, regulations and resistance were just the tip of the iceberg. Most of our long-time traders would remember the harsh crypto winter of 2018. Even the following DeFi Summer was marred by the increase of rugpulls and shitcoins, damaging the legitimacy of genuine DeFi projects.
But through it all, Kyber Network persevered and survived. We held on to our commitment of making great changes through the crypto market, maintaining our vision to make DeFi easy, safe and accessible to all.
Along our journey, KyberSwap also evolved to match the fast-paced, ever-changing DeFi landscape. Our KNC migration gave more authority to KyberDAO, establishing an Ecosystem Growth Fund paved the way for our first Liquidity Mining Program on KyberSwap (formerly KyberDMM), not to mention transitioning KyberSwap to a DEX aggregator and our rapid deployment on multiple EVM-compatible chains, allowing us to aggregate liquidity to give our KyberSwappers highly competitive rates.

It has been a turbulent 5 years, but thanks to a great team and awesome supporters Kyber Network has not only managed to survive but we’ve thrived!
