Building something related to decentralized finance (DeFi)? You have one week to register and submit your project as part of our online hackathon! Over $42,000 in bounty prizes! Deadline: 28 October 11.45 pm SGT/GMT+8

To help us champion the DeFi movement, increase crypto adoption, and support developer talent around the world 🌍 , Kyber is working alongside our #KyberDeFi Ecosystem Builders!

Each of these projects are adding tremendous value to the blockchain and developer ecosystem in their own special way. They are also helping Kyber spread the message of decentralized finance to talented developer communities globally.

Today we’d briefly introduce them and learn about what they do.

BitGo

BitGo is a digital assets custody solution for institutional clients. It also provides staking as well as clearing and settlement services. BitGo is the current custodian for WBTC (Wrapped Bitcoin), an ERC20 backed 1:1 with Bitcoin. BitGo ensures the exact 1:1 between minted WBTC tokens and the Bitcoin stored by them, with an on-chain proof of reserve. When WBTC token holders redeem their tokens for Bitcoin, the tokens are burned. The minting and burning of tokens are in turn tracked and verifiable on the blockchain. WBTC is already being used by popular DeFi projects such as Compound, Fulcrum, Nuo, and Betoken.

BitGo is sponsoring a bounty prize of $2500 in WBTC tokens! We’re also glad to have Benedict Chan, CTO of BitGo, as one of our hackathon judges.

CoinGecko

CoinGecko aims to provide a fundamental analysis of the crypto market. In addition to tracking price, volume and market capitalization, CoinGecko tracks community growth, open-source code development, major events and on-chain metrics. CoinGecko’s objective is to elevate crypto participants’ understanding of fundamental factors that drive the market. CoinGecko is one of the largest and earliest crypto data aggregators, operating since early 2014. It tracks around 3,000 tokens from more than 230 cryptocurrency exchanges.

CoinGecko has a good example of a KyberWidget integration that allows token swaps to be performed directly on a website!
